Macau Sauna September 2026 Update: Yu Sauna Opens, Victoria Returns and Nine Venues Reviewed
A September 2026 update on Yu Sauna's opening with more than 100 staff, Victoria Sauna's return and seven other venues, covering observed staffing, facilities, promotions and points to confirm before visiting.
Macau Sauna Sites · Updated Sep 1, 2026 · 10 min read

As Macau moves from August into early autumn, its sauna market continues to change.
During late August and early September, the opening of Yu Sauna brought renewed activity to a relatively quiet market. Several venues responded by adjusting promotions and adding treatment and booking benefits for existing customers.
By the final weekend of August, Yu Sauna had more than 100 staff on site. Meanwhile, long-established Victoria Sauna reopened under a new team. After the changes in June, activity is gradually recovering and competition between venues is increasing.
Prices are changing just as frequently. When the information was updated on 30 August, discounts at some venues had briefly exceeded MOP 700, although the venues also indicated that the relevant campaigns might last only three days. Prices and promotions remain in a period of concentrated adjustment, so menus, discounts and added benefits can all change at short notice.
Information date: This article brings together market observations from 30 August to 1 September 2026. Staffing, traffic, promotions and service arrangements can change at any time, so confirm again before setting out.
Prices and promotions in this article should therefore be treated only as a snapshot. Before visiting, always reconfirm the day’s prices, service fees, campaign rules and final amount payable. Booking in advance will generally still let you confirm a better-value plan, complimentary transfers and extra treatment arrangements, but the venue’s same-day reply takes precedence.
What Changed in Macau’s Sauna Market in September 2026?
Macau’s sauna market is no longer dominated by just two or three large venues.
Yu Sauna has attracted attention with a core team from the former Oceanic Royal operation and more than 100 staff. Empire Sauna continues to be discussed for its Chinese team’s service reputation and its upscale setting. Majesty Spa offers substantial promotions and overnight arrangements. Shang Pin Spa and Manhao Spa remain options for Taipa visitors, while East Castle Spa is distinguished by its themed rooms and scripted scenarios.
Several features now define the market:
- Yu Sauna’s opening marks the return of venues with more than 100 staff
- Venues are increasing promotions and complimentary treatment benefits
- Victoria has resumed operations, with established venues gradually returning
- Staff are moving between venues more quickly, creating marked fluctuations in staffing levels
- There is still no undisputed, stable market leader
- Price, service, location and distinctive experiences continue to matter more
- Queues and room waits are returning at popular venues on weekends
Choosing a venue means considering more than one day’s staff count or the lowest number on a menu. Staffing, traffic and promotions are changing quickly; observations across several points in time give a more useful picture.
Yu Sauna: A New Venue with More Than 100 Staff
In late August 2026, Yu Sauna became a notable new addition to Macau’s sauna market.
Some in the market have described it as a hybrid of Number One Sauna and Oceanic Royal Spa. Based on the current staff mix, the core team broadly carries over from the former Oceanic Royal operation, with some managers familiar with the Number One model also joining.
Yu Sauna formally opened only in late August, so the observation window remains short. Its weekend staff count nevertheless passed 100, above that of other currently observed Macau venues and returning to a scale not seen for some time.
Yu Sauna’s Current Staffing
Yu Sauna’s main characteristics at this stage are:
- A large Chinese staff team
- A substantial number of Southeast Asian staff
- A comparatively notable number of Japanese and Korean staff at present
- A number of Caucasian staff, although fewer than at Shang Pin’s peak
- An overall on-site headcount that has reached the 100-plus range
The staff count alone does not establish that the overall experience matches the peak-era standards of Number One Sauna or Oceanic Royal Spa.
Early observations suggest that Yu Sauna’s overall experience has not yet become clearly different from that of other popular venues operating at the same time. A newly opened venue needs time for its team, management and service processes to settle. Its consistency after September will be more revealing.
Yu Sauna’s Setting and Rooms
Yu Sauna uses the premises of its predecessor. By current Macau standards, the setting sits roughly in the mid-range to upper-mid tier.
Although its decor is relatively restrained, the rooms appear somewhat fresher and more comfortable than those at Number One Sauna and Oceanic Royal Spa in their later years. Rooms previously arranged for Thai-style bath sessions are gradually being converted into treatment rooms with large waterbeds, similar to Oceanic Royal’s layout. This format is familiar to regular Macau sauna visitors.
Dining has not yet fully carried over Oceanic Royal’s former advantage. Both the range and execution leave room for improvement, and it remains worth watching whether they are strengthened later.
What Should You Watch at Yu Sauna Right Now?
Traffic has risen quickly since the opening, and weekend queues for rooms have already begun to appear.
Some recent guests have also reported sessions occasionally running short during busy periods, at a rate that is currently higher than expected. Problems of this kind are often related to a new team settling in, sudden traffic growth and on-site management. Whether they improve will depend on the management team’s control of processes and staffing.
Yu Sauna is worth considering among September’s options, while visitors familiar with Number One Sauna or Oceanic Royal Spa at their peaks may still find differences in the overall experience.
September assessment: the largest observed staff count among Macau’s new venues, with the overall experience and service consistency still developing.
Empire Sauna: Setting, Staffing and Service Arrangements
Empire saw increased activity in mid-August. Its on-site staff count briefly passed 80, while guest traffic continued to rise. Its Chinese team remained a notable part of the venue, with favourable impressions of staffing levels, presentation and service.
Empire’s staff count did not remain at its peak. By late August, around 40 to 50 staff were on site.
This may reflect temporary scheduling changes or the venue’s capacity to accommodate a larger team over time. Some staff may also have moved to new openings, though that remains uncertain. A team of 40 to 50 may offer a more manageable balance between availability and room demand during busy periods.
Empire Sauna’s Main Features
Empire’s main features include:
- A substantial Chinese team with a positive service reputation
- Staff from a range of national backgrounds
- Well-equipped rooms, including treatment rooms with waterbeds
- Luxurious venue decor
- Suitable for both private visits and business hosting
- Generally stable service processes
Empire’s space, rooms and shared facilities remain in Macau’s leading tier. Whether visiting privately or arranging a more presentable venue for clients, the overall setting is unlikely to let the occasion down.
Its current 40-to-50-person team is smaller than Yu Sauna’s, but may suit guests who prefer shorter waits and a simpler introduction process than at a venue with more than 100 staff.
September assessment: its Chinese team’s service reputation and upscale setting remain notable; the smaller staff count may offer a better balance between availability and guest traffic.
Shang Pin Spa: Down from Its Peak, With Room for a Better Experience
Shang Pin saw rapid growth in June and July, with increases in guest traffic, staff numbers and market attention.
By late August, guest traffic, on-site staff numbers and impressions of the overall experience had eased from their peaks. These observations concern particular points in time and do not establish a lasting decline in standards. The simultaneous fall in staff and guest numbers is a more measurable change.
Shang Pin’s biggest earlier problem was not a lack of people. It was that management and service processes failed to keep pace when too many guests arrived at once.
Common issues included:
- Longer evening queues
- An imbalance between staffing and guest demand
- Limited availability for frequently requested staff
- Fluctuations in on-site service quality
- Management responding more slowly than traffic was growing
With guest and staff numbers returning to a more balanced level, the overall experience may have room to improve.
What Has Shang Pin Changed?
Shang Pin has recently increased its promotional offers and added more massage and lobby-treatment benefits. Its bubble-bath package remains available and continues to distinguish it from other venues.
Shang Pin continues to offer several advantages:
- A Cotai location convenient for travellers staying in the newer resort district
- A distinctive bubble-bath package
- A team with a broad mix of backgrounds
- Caucasian, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian and Chinese staff
- Stronger promotions once again
- The prospect of less queue pressure as traffic falls back
Whether Shang Pin can reclaim a secure position as Taipa’s leading venue will depend on management, service consistency and control of peak-hour traffic.
September assessment: staffing and traffic have eased from their peaks, while the bubble-bath package, promotions and broad staff mix remain relevant features.
Majesty Spa: Package Prices and Overnight Arrangements
Majesty remains a relevant option when comparing package costs in September.
At the time this article was updated, Majesty’s daytime campaign had briefly offered stacked discounts of MOP 700 + MOP 500. In the evening, benefits included a discount of around MOP 700, a buy-one-get-one offer and, for guests meeting the relevant conditions, the possibility of a private rest room.
It remains uncertain whether these campaigns will continue over the long term. The current prices and inclusions are nevertheless worth comparing with other venues.
Majesty Spa’s Current Advantages
- More accessible pricing in the menu tiers for Southeast Asian staff
- Substantial daytime discounts
- A buy-one-get-one evening campaign
- Overnight rest arrangements
- Private rest rooms under certain conditions
- A moderately sized team
- Chinese staff currently on duty as well
- Less exposure to the queue pressure of a large venue
Majesty’s main drawback is that some staff can be fairly forward in asking for tips, which can detract from the experience. Tips should be based on the service actually received and the guest’s own willingness; they should not be treated as a fixed charge.
Apart from that issue, Majesty remains a practical option for package prices and overnight stays, with a mainly Southeast Asian team.
It is worth considering when package costs and rest arrangements are more relevant to your plans than team size or elaborate decor.
September assessment: daytime discounts, buy-one-get-one terms and conditional private-rest-room benefits make the package prices worth comparing.
Manhao Spa: A Low-Key Taipa Option That May Rival Shang Pin
Manhao has always been one of Macau’s more low-key new venues.
It does little promotion and attracts less online discussion than Shang Pin, so some travellers may be unaware of this Taipa option. Reports from some August visits gave a more favourable impression of Manhao’s staff arrangements than Shang Pin’s at those particular times.
There are not many major venues currently operating in Taipa, and Manhao remains competitive on location, decor and price.
Why Manhao Deserves Attention
- A Taipa location suited to travellers staying in the Cotai hotel district
- Less crowding than Shang Pin experienced at its peak
- Solid decor and room hardware
- Competitive pricing relative to Shang Pin
- Favourable impressions of staff arrangements at some observed points in time
- Respectable dining, including soup
If choosing between Shang Pin and Manhao — and you have never visited Manhao — it may make sense to look at Manhao first at this stage.
Its main challenge is limited visibility and the absence of a clear feature that attracts guests and staff. A clearer position may give Manhao room to grow in Taipa.
September position: a low-key, practical Taipa venue with less traffic pressure; first-time visitors may want to try it before looking elsewhere.
East Castle Spa (Golden Castle): Themed Rooms Remain a Distinctive Feature
East Castle had been sending fairly opaque signals to the market. Outsiders once thought the venue was preparing to advance a major new project, only to learn later that the principal changes were tied to M CLUB ceasing operations and the consolidation of staff.
After M CLUB closed, some staff briefly returned to Golden Castle, increasing on-site numbers for a short period. The team has since returned to a relatively modest size.
The people who remain after that turnover are still performing reasonably well overall.
East Castle’s main distinction remains its range of themed rooms for scripted, scenario-based sessions, a format offered by relatively few Macau venues.
Why Golden Castle Is Still Worth Visiting
Themed rooms remain a recognisable part of Macau’s sauna market, and East Castle is one venue to consider for this format.
The venue offers:
- An aircraft cabin
- A hospital and consultation room
- An office
- A classroom
- A prison and interrogation room
- A gym and boxing ring
- A golf course
- A car-wash room
- A restaurant and other scenario spaces
The venue currently maintains a low promotional profile, but the theme rooms themselves remain distinctive.
Bringing cash is advisable. Using a credit card could previously attract a surcharge of around MOP 300; East Castle’s current card policy should still be reconfirmed before paying.
September assessment: a smaller team, with a range of themed rooms and scripted scenarios that continues to distinguish the venue.
Number Nine Spa: Staff Introductions and Current Availability
Number Nine Spa has highlighted its Japanese and Korean team in its publicity. On-site observations recorded around a “4 + 3” split, so the numbers alone do not yet establish a clear difference from other venues.
Most Macau venues operating normally currently employ at least some Japanese, Korean, Caucasian, Chinese and Southeast Asian staff. Number Nine may therefore need a clearer feature beyond staff origins to distinguish its overall service.
Its staff introduction area is a positive feature.
How Number Nine Arranges Staff Introductions
- A comfortable distance during introductions
- Comfortable lighting levels
- Introductions take place close enough to follow clearly
- Manageable group sizes
- Good overall visibility
- A comparatively unhurried introduction and booking process
Alongside the close-range corridor introductions once used by Familia Nobre, Number Nine’s arrangement is one of the more recognisable formats.
Competition is increasing near its NAPE location. New openings such as Yu Sauna and Empire serve the same visitor area, so stable staffing and a clearer position will matter to Number Nine’s continued presence.
September assessment: the Japanese and Korean staff count does not yet establish a clear difference, while lighting and distance during introductions remain positive features.
Victoria Sauna: Reopened Under a New Team, Best Watched for Now
Victoria Sauna has only just resumed operations. The observation window is still too short, making it premature to draw conclusions.
Further reports from visits are needed to assess how the new team handles staffing, particularly its Southeast Asian team, sessions in waterbed-equipped treatment rooms and package pricing.
The main points to watch next are:
- The actual on-site headcount
- Service consistency within the Southeast Asian team
- The new team’s service processes
- Whether prices and promotions remain stable
- Whether distinctive campaigns return
- Whether room arrangements run smoothly at peak times
September position: newly reopened and best placed on the watchlist until an on-site visit allows a fuller assessment.
The Excellent Sauna: Early-Shift Edge Fades, but Still Practical in the Afternoon
The Excellent Sauna was previously distinguished by staff starting work earlier in the day.
Yu Sauna now also has staff on duty early, so visitors have another option for that time of day.
Current on-site observations put the team at around 20 staff, mainly Southeast Asian and Chinese, with a small number of Japanese and Korean staff. Caucasian staff may not be on duty during some periods; availability still depends on the day’s schedule.
What Advantages Does The Excellent Still Have?
- Staff are already on duty from noon into the afternoon
- Practical for travellers who need to schedule an early visit
- A smaller venue with a less hurried introduction and booking process
- Comparatively proactive service from managers
- Themed rooms and waterbed-equipped treatment rooms remain available
- Staff are available before the evening shift
The Excellent and Yu Sauna are now the principal choices for earlier afternoon hours. If the visit needs to be completed in the afternoon and you do not want to wait until evening, The Excellent still has practical value.
September position: its early-session advantage is no longer exclusive, but it remains convenient in the afternoon and suits time-sensitive travellers.
How to Choose for Different Needs in September 2026
At this stage, no Macau sauna can outperform every competitor across the board. Different priorities point to different choices.
For a new venue with more than 100 staff, consider Yu Sauna.
For an upscale setting and a Chinese team with a positive service reputation, consider Empire.
For a bubble-bath package and the convenience of Cotai without crossing to the peninsula, Shang Pin remains worth considering.
For daytime discounts, buy-one-get-one terms and overnight package costs, compare Majesty’s current offers.
If you are in Taipa and want to avoid Shang Pin’s crowds, try Manhao first.
For themed rooms and scripted scenarios, East Castle remains a relevant option.
For comfortable lighting and distance during staff introductions, consider Number Nine.
For an earlier afternoon start, both The Excellent and Yu Sauna can make arrangements.
Victoria has only just reopened, so it is better to watch the new team’s consistency first.
September Price and Promotion Pitfalls
Promotions Can Change at Any Time
Some venues’ MOP 700-level discounts may be only short-term campaigns. Do not treat a three-day promotion as a fixed price.
Ask for the Final Amount Payable
Do not ask only how large the discount is. Confirm directly:
“After the menu price, discount, service fee, tourism tax, room type and every add-on are calculated, what is the final amount I need to pay?”
Check the Conditions of Buy-One-Get-One Offers
Most buy-one-get-one offers apply only to designated staff tiers or times, or require a top-up. The additional arrangement may involve an assigned staff member rather than someone the guest can request freely.
Requesting Specific Staff for a Complimentary Treatment May Cost Extra
Complimentary add-on treatments are generally assigned by the venue. Requesting a particular member of staff may cost extra.
Expect Queues at Popular Venues on Weekends
Popular venues such as Yu Sauna and Shang Pin may have queues or room waits on weekend evenings. Arriving earlier can reduce the wait.
Allow New Venues Time to Settle Their Processes
Yu Sauna, the reopened Victoria and other venues under new teams may experience short-term inconsistencies in reception, room arrangements and service duration.
Macau Sauna Market Summary — September 2026
Macau’s sauna market is seeing renewed competition in September 2026.
Yu Sauna opened with more than 100 staff, bringing a larger venue back into the market. Empire remains notable for its Chinese team’s service reputation and upscale setting. Shang Pin is adjusting after guest and staff numbers eased from their peaks. Majesty continues to offer promotions and overnight arrangements. Manhao provides a quieter Taipa alternative. East Castle retains its themed scenarios, Number Nine offers a comfortable staff introduction area, and Victoria has reopened under a new team.
There is still no absolute market leader.
Venues now compete through prices, package benefits, staffing, facilities and distinctive service formats. Matching the sustained market presence of Number One Sauna or Oceanic Royal Spa would require more than one or two months of high staff numbers. Stable teams, consistent service and returning guests will matter over the longer term.
Consider Yu Sauna for its large team, Empire for service and setting, Majesty for package prices and overnight rest, Shang Pin or Manhao for a Taipa stay, East Castle for themed scenarios, Number Nine for its introduction process, and The Excellent for an afternoon visit.
